Global Skin: each stage, when the business asked for it.
The company
Global Skin is a dermocosmetics distributor in Mexico that operates through branches.
How they worked
Inventory, sales and collections lived in Excel sheets. Each branch kept its own stock records, and finding out how much had been sold, or how much was still owed, meant pulling files together by hand.
What we built, stage by stage
Organized tables
We designed the structure of the workbook so every branch recorded the same things in the same way.
Macros
We used VBA to automate the tasks that came up every day.
Data entry with rules
Forms with the business rules built in: a sale with no sales number or delivery note, or a stock withdrawal with nothing in stock, could no longer be saved. The workbook went through more than twenty versions while the team used it.
Web system
With the rules proven in daily use, in June 2026 we moved everything to a web system. The rules didn't change: they moved from Excel into the database, where nobody can skip them.
What we ruled out, and why
For the web system, the first proposal was to set up dedicated cloud infrastructure with its own server. We considered it and ruled it out: Global Skin didn't have that infrastructure, and building and maintaining it would have cost more than using managed services for the database and for hosting the system.
How they work today
Every branch sees its inventory live, each sale is recorded once, collections flags what's about to come due, and management downloads its reports without asking for them. Four user roles each see only what they need.
How we check that it works
Before any change reaches the team, it passes more than 900 automated tests that check the business rules one by one. If a single one fails, the change doesn't ship. That keeps the system the team uses every day doing what it should.
The numbers
- In daily use, on real data
- 24 screens, one per task
- 4 user roles
